Drafted out of Davidson with the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Stephen Curry began his career as a Nike athlete, and wore PEs of the Nike Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse models in his first several seasons. After an embarrassing pitch meeting with Nike executives, he was scooped up by Under Armour in 2013, and wore the Clutchfit Drive and Anatomix Spawn before releasing his signature shoe, the Curry, in 2015.
Under Armour was not much of a player in the NBA before Steph Curry came along, but his cache has made it one of the fastest growing brands in the league. In 2020, Curry and UA created Curry Brand, a brand-within-a-brand that follows the lead of players like Dwyane Wade with his Way of Wade and Li-Ning, and Michael Jordan with his Jordan Brand under Nike.
Like other stars, Steph Curry also released a secondary signature shoe, the Under Armour Curry 3ZER0 line, which is a lower priced takedown of the primary Curry series.
Although the four time MVP didn’t have his most decorated year that didn’t stop Under Armour from dropping the bomb, “The Curry 5”.

Whether this is a good pair to be worn in outdoor conditions? Lets dig deep.
When looking at the traction it offers there is no complains from this side. Curry 5 comes with a circular traction pattern which can offer multi directional grip and if you are lucky with a clean court these will stick like glue. Although the court is not the cleanest, the dust will get stuck at a minimal level which can get rid by a wipe or two.
Cusioning is really important in outdoor conditions as we all are aware. Curry 5 offers a decent cusioning which were way better than its predecessors. The impact protection is great and the cusioning is ideal for guards who depend on agility more.
The knit has made the shoe very lightweight and very supportive. It is one of the most comfortable shoes in curry signature line with great fit. However the protection is not the greatest as it is somewhere in between the normal and low cut. You might need to consider extra ankle protection if you are playing in it.
The big red flag is the durability of the shoe. It rubber is very frail and would not last even a month in outdoor conditions as some users have experienced.

Are Currys shoes good?
The Under Armour Curry 1 was a great shoe, and still one of the best first signature shoes ever alongside the Puma MB 01. The Curry 1 has great traction, cushion, fit, court feel, and materials, but is definitely better suited for smaller, shifter players, because of its low to the ground responsive cushioning.
What kind of putter does Steph Curry use?
Curry fills out his bag with a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero fairway wood (13.5 degrees), an X-Forged UT driving iron (18 degrees), Apex Pro Forged irons (4-PW), custom Jaws MD5 wedges (50, 56 and 60 degrees), and an Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas putter.
Final Thoughts
Curry 5 is a reasonably priced shoe with good traction, decent cushioning and a lot of new features which definitely boosts its performance over its predecessors. However it is highly recommended not to use it in outdoor conditions as the shoe definitely wouldn’t last long. However if you are a die-hard Steph fans which I know most of you all are there is nothing stopping you from coping this pair. That leads to our final score of,
